Karde's participation in large innovation projects

Mylife
Multimedia technology for independence and participation for people with dementia
The aim of the AAL Joint Programme Call 2010 3 project Mylife is, through collaboration between partners from Norway, United Kingdom and Germany, to refine and expand the existing, initial MYLIFE-prototype with enhanced functionality to reach a mature, high-quality product ready for the European market, and to introduce it as an assistive technology for people with cognitive disabilities. The service offered by MYLIFE supports time-orientation, sensory awareness, communication and recreational activities (entertainment). The basic idea is to utilise Internet-based services and applications and to transform these to render elegantly on the end-user’s touch-screen.

SEMICOLON
Interoperability in public sector

Semicolon is a research project partly funded by the Norwegian
Research Council. It addresses the challenges to establish compatible ontologies,
information models and the necessary organisational coordination and collaboration to simplify public service production across public bodies.
Semicolon's publication list offers additional information.

e-Me
Inclusive identity management in new social media

The primary objective of this project is to provide new knowledge that can significantly improve the usability and accessibility of identity management systems and authentication mechanisms in social networks without compromising privacy, security and legal frameworks. This research project is financed by the VERDIKT-programme in the Research Council of Norway. Norsk Regnesentral (NR) is project owner. Karde AS leads the project.

DIADEM
Delivering Inclusive Access for Disabled or Elderly Members of the community

The goal of DIADEM was to provide an adaptable web browser interface, to enable people who suffer a reduction of cognitive skills, to remain active and independent members of society. This was achieved by developing an Expert System (ES) which monitored the user, adapted and personalised the computer interface to enable people to interact with web based forms. This system can be located on the user's PC and will ensure that the many services available over the internet are open and accessible to as many people as possible, whilst providing privacy and security. In DIADEM, Karde was Nowegian Computing Center's sub-contractor.

OSIRIS
Open Source Infrastructure for Run-time Integration of Services
The interest of providing technologies for building systems faster has led to advances in integration technology such as component-based development, application servers, asynchronous middleware and Service-Oriented Architectures (SOA). On the other hand, the increase of software needs is pushing new collaboration approaches for focussing on differentiating aspects. When everything is becoming interconnected, the vision of an Open Source infrastructure as the most suitable approach to satisfy common requirements across domains has lead a set of organisations to promote this initiative.
OSIRIS was an across-domain open source service platform that provided support for services provisioning, aggregation, delivery, dynamic adaptation to the context and lifecycle management.

UNIMOD
Universal Design in Multimodal User Interfaces
The main objective of the UNIMOD-project was to improve the competence of multimodal, personalized user interfaces, and thus to improve the accessibility and use of electronic services. The project’s solutions addressed different groups of users with different kinds of cognitive challenges. These solutions would simplify the use for all users, not only for the cognitively disabled, and would therefore contribute to increasing the data quality and efficiency of electronic services.
